Focus: Massage therapists, Bodyworkers, Educators of massage therapy and bodywork

Background: Kathy has been active in the field of massage therapy and bodywork since 1991, specializing in body/mind inter-relationship, oncology massage, and Esalen massage. She has completed advanced training in the Hakomi method of Body-Centered Experiential Therapy. Kathy balances her practice with teaching massage students relationship and business ethics at a local massage school, along with facilitating a mentorship program for local practitioners.

Kathy is a member of the AMTA, is Nationally Certified, serves on a sub-committee of the Ethics and Standards committee for NCBTMB, is with the AMTA speakers pool, and is an approved provider with NCBTMB.

Kathy has been drawn to the study and exploration of ethics and right relationship from the very first day she entered massage therapy school, somehow knowing that the presence of the therapist, and who we bring to the caring situation, have the greatest impact on the therapeutic relationship. Through her own journey of inner-exploration and continued personal growth, her commitment and dedication to support others on their journeys is now her passion! She strives to teach what she lives and live what she teaches.

Kathy believes the study and exploration of ethics as Right Use of Power™ can be dynamic, juicy, alivening, and transforming. She gently invites each student to look at the elements of healing that go beyond technique, along with exploring one’s own relationship with power. Her teaching offers navigational tools for dealing with the deep and often confusing interaction between client and caregiver.

Kathy offers Right Use of Power™ training as an experiential approach to the study of ethics. Her Right Use of Power™ workshops are approved by the NCBTMB.
